For School Districts
Turn the adults students trust into Academic Resilience Coaches
Achievement problems are rarely content problems. YCI's institution-exclusive Certified Academic Resilience Coach track equips your staff to build the self-regulation, motivation, and learning skills achievement actually depends on.
Counselor ratios make individual support impossible at scale
One counselor cannot reach hundreds of students, and tutoring alone can't fix what isn't a content problem. Test anxiety, burnout, low self-efficacy, and underdeveloped study strategies quietly drive grades, attendance, and course completion, and no single role can reach them all.
The adults are already there. Equip them.
Counselors, deans, athletic coaches, intervention specialists, and paraprofessionals already have thousands of student interactions each week. The Certified Academic Resilience Coach track grounds them in learning science and evidence-based coaching: self-regulated learning, growth mindset and attribution retraining, test anxiety strategies, and executive function support, including for students with ADHD.
What's included
Certified Academic Resilience Coach track
An institution-exclusive certification: two self-study courses (Foundational Youth Coaching Skills, Learning Science and Academic Coaching) plus a 7-week live practicum with supervised practice and two rounds of individualized feedback.
Leadership certification through CYRC
Your supervisor or program lead completes YCI's professional resilience coach certification, equipping the person who will champion, supervise, and sustain the coaching approach on campus.
Full-year curriculum license
Both student-facing Power Skills courses: Academic Resilience as first-semester curriculum, Mental Fitness as second semester, timed so regulation skills land ahead of testing season. The Mental Fitness license is included at no additional charge, staff coach from the same evidence base students learn from, and campuses can flip the sequence if their population calls for it.
Board-ready outcome data
Pre and post measurement of student well-being and academic resilience using validated instruments, formatted for board presentations and grant reporting.
Funding pathways that typically apply
Title IV-A student support, Title II-A professional development, and state safety and wellness allotments have all supported programs of this kind, and many districts braid these sources together. Our team can help you map the fit for your district's funding picture.
What your staff and students will be able to do
This is demonstrated capability, not course completion. Your staff finish ready to coach, and your students finish with skills they use the same week.
Coach the learning process
Guide students through the full self-regulated learning cycle: forethought, performance, and self-reflection.
Teach strategies that stick
Equip students with retrieval practice, spaced repetition, and interleaving, study methods validated by cognitive science.
Rebuild academic confidence
Work the four sources of self-efficacy and coach students through test anxiety and academic stress.
Retrain setback thinking
Apply growth mindset and attribution retraining so students process failure as strategy feedback, not identity.
Support every learner
Coach executive function with students with ADHD and help gifted students navigate perfectionism pressures.
Spot burnout early
Recognize the warning signs on the burnout-to-engagement continuum and respond with protective interventions.
Guide, not tell
Use inquiry-based coaching that builds student autonomy instead of dependence on adult direction.
Practice ethically
Work within clear scope-of-practice boundaries and know when and how to refer to licensed professionals.
Study the way the brain learns
Apply active recall, spaced repetition, and interleaving to beat the forgetting curve and make studying efficient.
Run their own learning
Design and execute a self-regulated learning plan using the Plan-Do-Reflect cycle, monitoring and adapting as they go.
Manage time like a strategist
Prioritize with proven frameworks, break big projects into milestones with backward planning, and build realistic schedules.
Perform under pressure and ask for help
Manage test anxiety with research-backed techniques and recognize when to seek support, proactively rather than in crisis.
Reframe unhelpful thinking
Use metacognition to catch cognitive distortions like catastrophizing and apply evidence-based reframing techniques.
Regulate intense emotions
Apply fast-acting, research-backed regulation skills during high-stress moments and understand the nervous system behind them.
Build habits that hold
Design behavior change plans using habit science, and support mental health through sleep, movement, and nutrition.
Lead with values and boundaries
Make decisions from personal values and practice assertive communication and boundary-setting in relationships.
Verified, practicum-tested competence
Every Certified Academic Resilience Coach completes a 7-week live practicum with supervised practice and two rounds of individualized feedback before certification. This is demonstrated skill, not just course completion.
